The 165 series is an upgraded version of the previously introduced 153 series, designed for use on lines such as the Joetsu/Chuo Line, with cold and snow resistance measures incorporated. It was also used on other lines such as the Central Main Line's "Alps" express and the Tokaido Main Line's "Tokai" express. Various configurations, from long formations for express trains to short formations for local trains, can be replicated.

Head and tail lights are illuminated. Includes head marks, destination display stickers including destination indicators, and head mark bases.
